Insulating Site Built Homes
This is a complete analysis of the thermal boundary. We will demonstrate a variety of insulation products and where it may be appropriate to use them, including dense pack cellulose, two part foam and blown-in fiberglass. We will utilize infrared thermography to identify opportunities for improving the thermal boundary, and for use as a quality control tool. Building Technician Module
Day 1 & 2: Insulation Details in Weatherization
This two-day segment of Insulating Site-Built Homes is designed to provide auditors and installers with a thorough knowledge of insulation measures. Topics covered are: the weatherization process and common insulation materials, techniques and locations. A key component in this segment covers building science concepts related to insulation, the function of insulation versus the function of air sealing and determining a building’s thermal boundary.
Day 3: High Performance Insulation: 2-Part Foam & Dense Pack Insulation
This one-day segment of Insulating Site-Built Homes is designed to provide auditors and installers with a thorough knowledge of two particular insulation materials that are used to great benefit in Weatherization Programs. Topics covered relating to “two part foam” are: best applications and alternative packaging and delivery systems. Topics relating to Dense Pack Insulation are: the details that make dense pack work better than standard wall insulation and relevant tools and techniques.
